Bridging a Gap Between Business Consumption & Responsibility
Print Shop Takes Extra Steps To Support Regional Eco-Systems & Natural Resources
Portland, Oregon: Pacific North Press announces the launch of a program to give profits back, from every order placed, to local environmental stewards, Trailkeepers of Oregon, and Friends of the Gorge. Pacific North Press will be hosting an open house at their location, 14 NE Tillamook St, Portland, OR 97212, March 16th, 2018, from 4pm to 8pm. They will provide beverages and food, along with swag bags, a raffle for discounted services, and opportunities to observe the print process and for guests to try their hand at it, as well.
"The interests of Oregon for today and in the future must be protected from the grasping squanderers of the land. We must respect another truism – that unlimited and unregulated growth, leads inexorably to a lowered quality of life." (– 1973 Oregon Legislative session).
Pacific North Press believes there is more to business than just a basic exchange. Despite newer Eco-friendly industry changes in chemical use and makeup, screen printing is still resource consuming and its practices wasteful. From the goods printed using energy, fuel, land, and water; to the inks and clean-up chemicals (although filtered, still running down drains) to the packaging materials that large companies insist on. No industry is exempt from negatively impacting their local and global ecosystems. It is up to the business to look past the basic transaction.
Pacific North Press will begin working to set an example as a holistic manufacturer by not only giving back to the local ecology but also to shift its sales focus to sustainably made goods, North American-centric brands like Allmade Apparel, and responsible practices of waste water filtration and recycling.
Representatives of Pacific North Press, Trailkeepers of Oregon and Friends of the Gorge will be present at the open house (March 16th, 2018), along with more information about their work. T-shirts manufactured and donated by Allmade will be on hand for guests to try their hand at screen printing.
